If you can, we would like for you to donate your old used school or church bus. We also need good summer clothing and other supplies to help support our growing and vibrant ministry in Somotillo, Nicaragua. In 1998 Nicaragua was hit by hurricane Mitch, a hurricane of enormous proportion. The damage and human suffering was beyond description. Many volunteer organizations responded to the need, including our small church in Dunkirk, Maryland. Through this terrible disaster, a strong bond of friendship and a thriving ministry was born. We currently support a medical clinic, school, radio station broadcasting God’s good news, and three churches in Nicaragua.
This ministry has been a blessing to both the people of Nicaragua, as well as our little church. Many of our members, including several of our young people, have had the opportunity to make mission trips to Nicaragua. They take their turns at working in the mobile clinics, building projects, as well as spreading God’s word. If you have a minute, have a look at some of our pictures.
Now we come to the bus. Getting supplies to Nicaragua is something of a project. Particularly for a small church with very limited resources. However, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” In order to have a chance at getting the amount of supplies we need to Nicaragua, we plan to send them by bus. We plan to take all of the seats out of the bus, and stack them in the back. We will then fill the back of the bus with donated supplies such as; clothing, equipment, and medical supplies. Next, someone from our church will drive the bus down to Tampa, Florida. We will put it on a ship and transport it to El Salvador. Pastor Diomedes from Nicaragua will arrange to get the bus and drive it back to Nicaragua. Once he arrives, the supplies will be unloaded and the bus will be put back together and ready for daily use or sold to support our churches and pastors in Nicaragua. In this way our donations will help the people of Nicaragua two-fold.
